Amazing Value

Delphi Classics are the solitary best resource for Kindle for literature. The only reason this volume does not receive a 5 star review is its glaring ommission of my favorite, "Billy Budd: Sailor." However, its absence is explained along with the promise of a free upgrade once it becomes available. Delphi Classics are meticulous in detail and format, beautiful artwork, and well-edited grammatically. They are a truly amazing value!

Melville Great, Navigation Needs Improvement

This is a well edited and almost complete edition of the Melville novels, with the promise that Billy Budd will be added (for free) as soon as it clears copyright. However, in a massive edition like this navigation is critical, and there is no direct link from the table of contents to the individual novels. Rather there is a link to "The Novels"; "The Stories" etc. To find Moby Dick, I had to go to the Novels, open the first one, go to the end, open the second, go to the end, etc. Very annoying.

censored??? by design or by lack of familiarity with the original???

As much as I would like to recommend this collection, I discovered that some of the story of Typee had been left out---specifically, what Melville wrote criticizing missionaries. I knew that he had been attacked for this at the time of publication but never dreamnt that a collected edition would leave it out. Makes me a little hesitant about the whole Delphi enterprise....
